Anti-lag rally car sound
Overrun pops are set to 100, the maximum, and no other preset comes close. The next highest is the hot hatch at 70. That single parameter governs how often the exhaust bangs when the throttle closes, and at maximum it fires on practically every opportunity.
Ten seconds from a standing start. The launch, the gearbox working up through the ratios, then the overrun as the throttle closes. Driven by the same gearbox model the simulator runs, so the shift points are the ones you would hear in the car.
Anti-lag works by burning fuel in the exhaust to keep the turbo spinning while the driver is off the throttle. It is deliberately wasteful, brutal on the hardware, and the reason a rally car sounds like it is coming apart. The preset models it as a very high pop rate combined with a noise level of 145 and a drive of 150, both the highest here.
Idle is 1,100 rpm, higher than anything else in the library except the jet. That is not decoration: anti-lag engines idle high and unhappily, and starting from a raised idle changes the whole feel of pulling away.
Comb feedback is 65 and the saturation character is 85, which together give the resonant, hollow quality of a big turbo exhaust with a screamer pipe. Brightness at 130 keeps it aggressive at the top.
It shifts at 4,400 rpm across six ratios and redlines at 7,500. In practice you will lift often to hear the bangs, which is a reasonable way to use it and completely unlike how a real rally driver would.
First runs out at 53 km/h, so around town it changes gear constantly and bangs on every one of them. That is the appeal, and it is also why this is the preset most likely to become tiring on a long run.
